THIS Saturday, October 1: Vigil for Peace and
Freedom 2:00-8:00 PM. Join community folk from Whatcom County, U.S.
and British Columbia, Canada in united opposition to the presence
of the Minuteman Project and armed vigilantes on our common border.
We will join together at the International Peace Arch in Blaine,
WA. You are invited to bring a personal symbol of peace, community
and solidarity to place at our Altar under the Peace Arch. Poetry
and music are welcome! The format of the event will be free-flowing
so there are no scheduled speakers or musical events, though we
will have a PA system. We urge people to bring their own snacks,
water, lawn chairs, picnics, blankets, and whatever you need to

October 1: Sustainable Bellingham presents a film
showing and discussion of WE BECOME SILENT 7:30 to 10:00
PM at the Community Food Co-op Connections Building on
the corner of Forest and Chestnut. (The Co-op requests parking on
street or alternative transportation.) This astounding video exposes
the grave dangers posed by European and global regulation of medical
freedom. Please encourage your friends and family to view this video

orientation at the Whatcom Peace & Justice Center 10:00-12:00.

October 8: Indigenous People's Day March and Rally,
with support for Leonard Pelitier and all Political Prisoners. Hosted
by The American Indian Movement of Seattle, Portland, Tacoma, Bellingham,
and Vancouver, B.C. March to the Peace Arch leaves from the Salishan
Park in Blaine, WA (corner of Blaine/Alder) at 12:00 Noon. Rally
at the Peace Arch begins at 1:00 PM. Open mic and Potluck and Raffle

As deeply resonant Sanskrit words are sung, in call and response

BREAKING NEWS: Bellingham Peace Cranes Flying to Iraq! A
Canadian Representative from Christian Peacemaker Teams has notified
the Peace Center that he will take peace cranes made by Bellingham
children to Iraq and give them to children. If you would like to
make a peace crane for an Iraqi child, please stop by the Peace
Center during our drop-in hours and make one: we will send them
along at a ceremony on Wednesday, October 5th at 3:15 PM. Come join
the Bellingham children as they send their peace cranes to Iraqi
children!

Call all members of the city and county councils and urge them to
pass the Resolution that opposes minutemen/vigilante activity in
Whatcom County. The Democrats have passed this resolution at the
state level thanks to the work of Rosalinda Guillen, Sharon Monteiro,
Debi Covert-Bowlds and other members of the Coaltion for Professional
Law and Border Enforcement. A portion of the Resolution appears

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Whatcom County
Council opposes any effort to deputize, finance, or otherwise encourage
the presence of self-appointed vigilante groups within the County
who might take into their own hands the legal authority vested in
our law enforcement officials and those of the federal and state
governments, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Whatcom County
Council expresses once again its absolute commitment to a safe and
secure environment where individual civil rights are respected by
all.
